HSP Connections
The Information Directory for the Highly Sensitive Person
Thank you for visiting the HSP Connections web site!
Dear Fellow HSP,
My name is Peter Messerschmidt, and I am the creator of the HSP Connections web site, as well as the researcher, editor and publisher of the "HSP Connections" directory. I am also an HSP and an Introvert.
This web site, and the idea of a directory of "HSP-friendly" resources, came into being in the hope of filling a void I discovered while learning about my own High Sensitivity, back in 1997. In spite of the presence of the Internet, it seemed like a daunting and overwhelming process to find more information about the trait. And, to be perfectly honest, I felt more than a little shy about going to bookstores, or the library (let alone a therapist) and asking the question "What do you have that might be helpful and informative for someone who is Highly Sensitive?"
In addition to this web site, I also own three other "sister sites" which contain information relevant to the Highly Sensitive Person. My most recent endeavor is the creation of The Pacific Northwest HSP Network, a regionally based web site and social network to help Northwestern HSPs connect with each other.
Inner Reflections: Sensitivity, Introversion, Giftedness and more
Inner Reflections is my "personal" web site, and talks about some of my favorite "hobbies" and "preoccupations."
The site has an extensive exploration of the HSP trait, including descriptive pages about different aspects of HSP life, photo journals covering the 2003 and 2007 California HSP Gatherings, articles and commentaries. My personal blog (an online journal) isn't specifically about the HSP trait, but does offer quite a few insights (or so I'm told!) into the way life feels when you're an HSP.
The remainder of the site explores the topics of Giftedness-- with a focus on Gifted Adults; Introversion; Personality Typing-- including Jung, Myers-Briggs, the Enneagram and more; general psychology; as well as commentaries and articles about life and living.
HSP Support is a "gateway" site with information about, and links to, a variety of groups to help HSPs connect with other HSPs.
These groups include online discussion and support groups, local and regional Internet discussion groups, therapeutic support groups, local social groups, HSP-related events, HSP workshops and much more, covering both the US and the rest of the world.
HSP Support: Discussion, Social and Support Groups for HSPs
The Pacific Northwest HSP Network
The Pacific Northwest HSP Network is a unique combination web site and social network. It's mission is to provide an "HSP safe" venue in which HSPs living in the northwestern states can get together inside a private networking site, which focused on helping people become local "group hosts," setting up support and peer groups for HSPs in their local communities.
The site combines aspects of a "traditional" web site, with some of the features of online email lists and message boards, with a full-featured "members-only" social network structure, along the lines of a "low impact" MySpace or Facebook. Although a few exceptions are made, membership is limited to HSPs living in Alaska, British Columbia, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
